How Sweet It Is

I am 16 weeks and 2 days into this pregnancy, and the second trimester has been a dream so far (knock on wood). I have a lot more energy, I'm sleeping without any pee breaks, and I just overall feel awesome!

The day that Eric and I found out we were pregnant, we had just gotten back from our California/Colorado trip, after having just celebrated my 30th birthday. I was unpacking, as Eric was tidying things up downstairs, when I saw a home pregnancy test that I had left in my suitcase. I had previously read that you are to store those tests at a certain temperature, and thinking that the belly of the plane is too cold for the test, I figured it wouldn't be any good, so I decided to take it. And that was when it happened:

My immediate reaction was "OH MY GOSH!"and hearing me rustle around made Eric think that something horrible had happened, and he yelled "WHAT'S WRONG???" So I ran downstairs, with the test in hand, and in an overly excited, and embarrassingly giggly voice said "I think we're pregnant!" I then explained to him that I wasn't sure that the test was any good though, to which he responded "Well, go get more!!"

So I hopped into my car, and I remember while driving, the chorus to Tim McGraw's "Felt Good On My Lips" playing. Now this song has absolutely nothing to do with pregnancy, but the chorus includes a line that says "whoaaa, how sweet it is" and I vividly remember my body filling up with complete happiness and just smiling at the sound of that, thinking indeed how sweet this really was.  And since that very moment, any time that song plays on the radio, I am taken back to that wonderful day and I cannot help but smile. I love how music has that ability to bring you back in time!

Oberly Joyed!

Ok, so the very last post was a little deceptive. Although, I haven't really been out much for the past month, its not because nothing is happening in our lives. In fact, something pretty big is happening... and that is my belly. That is because as of today, I am 14 weeks pregnant, and couldn't be happier about it!

We found out about our little blessing early February. This baby has been very kind to me so far, I was hit with nausea but somehow dodged the vomit bullet, and I am very thankful for that. Besides that, my most unpleasant pregnancy symptom was a quickly filling bladder. But hey, if that's as bad as I got it, I can certainly handle that!

We decided to keep this news to ourselves until we hit around 8 weeks, when we decided to spread the excitement to our family. Our families have been wonderful-- very happy and extremely supportive. I am so thankful to have a big sister who is my go-to pregnancy source and eager baby shower planner, and a thoughtful little sister who sends me encouraging words as well as candles to keep me calm and relaxed while I'm having a freak-out moment (I love you, sisters, its not just the hormones talking!). I am very grateful for my strong network of loved ones during this exciting and yet sometimes scary time.

And just like that, this becomes a pregnancy blog. I don't have the words to describe how genuinely and extremely happy and excited I am about this blessing. I will do my best to keep my blog updated with all the baby news, and I hope you'll join me on this wonderful journey of a little miracle.

where did March go?

Wowee, I just noticed there are no posts in March! Unfortunately, it is because I didn't do much in March. This will be a boring post. You could probably stop reading now.

Indy had a pretty bad seizure on Sunday. Eric and I had to take her to the emergency vet, where she stayed overnight. We met with a neurologist the next morning who took a look at her blood work and ran some neurological tests to determine that she does indeed have idiopathic epilepsy. The seizure scared us enough to start her on zonisamide (anticonvulsant medicine). So far she's responding well to the medicine-- I'm very pleased it hasn't had any effect on her personality. She's still the same, lovable, goofy beagle.

Winter is slowly melting away, and Spring is teasing us here and there with good weathered days. I could not be more happy about this. Bring on the sunshine!

April will be a fun month. Hopefully I'll have more things to write about with some fun events we have coming up.
